Your opportunity to contribute to an important new mental health service in Geelong
Through a series of upcoming workshops, service providers and people with lived experience, including carers, are encouraged to use your knowledge and experience on mental health services in Geelong to help piece together and design the new Adult Mental Health Centre in Corio.
Funded by the Commonwealth Government and to be opened in Corio in late 2021, the Adult Mental Health Centre will focus on local needs. It will not duplicate or replace existing services but will help fill the gaps.
Western Victoria PHN wants to work with people with lived experience; carers; and community and service providers to ensure everyone in the community has access to the right mental health support.
Phase 1 - Share your experience - Completed
The first phase, share your experience, has been completed. Thanks to everyone who generously shared their experience of adult mental health services in Geelong with us, it has helped us gain a better picture of what currently works and what needs improving. We will share a summary on Meeting Place soon.
Phase 2 - Development and Design - Completed
Co-design Workshops for Adult Mental Health Centre in Corio
During February, the Western Victorian PHN worked with the community and service providers separately as the first step to identify ideas for the types of services and support that the new service should deliver within the service model framework. In the final week of February, community and service providers came together to test and refine these ideas.
These sessions offered the opportunity to share insights into how services could better meet the needs of people living in the community with mental health challenges.
The scheduled co-design workshops are now complete.
